Morning Conversations: “Making the American Home” (2-part series)

Martha Avery of the Fort Findlay DAR and Marilyn Stinehart from the Jane Washington Chapter in Fostoria will present a power point program entitled “Making the American Home”. This two day series explores how domestic interiors reflect changes in American society from the late 17th century through the early 20th century. Our conversation will use objects from the DAR Museum collection to highlight how early Americans navigated the conditions of their period. How was the home divided into private and public spaces? What were the responsibilities of the man of the house? What were the responsibilities of the woman? How did new technologies change the American home?
